> Scruples Whippet Rescue
Posted by Lal - 07-21-10 08:41 - 0 comments
Scruples Whippet Rescue takes in whippets who are "in need of care and attention by reason of sickness, maltreatment, poor circumstances or ill usage", and rehabilitates and rehomes them.

Scruples operates throughout England and Wales via a network of approved foster carers. Scruples does not operate an animal shelter as such, rather whippets in our care enjoy all the comforts of a family home while being rehabilitated and/or awaiting rehoming. We are always keen to hear from potential foster carers/homecheckers throughout the country to help us with our work.

Further information can be found on our website

> How To Tell If Dog Is Going Into Labour?
Posted by lukkylady - 07-31-10 23:34 - 2 comments
the pregnant dog i took off a free ads site a fortnight ago still hasnt had her pups
her due date was 30th July, or so I was told

Shes very large, and looks like some milk from her teats.
She shows some signs: a discharge last few days, panting, listlessness
but then it stops, she just mostly lies about looking uncomfortable.

shes still eating, tho her appetite is reduced.

we got her a whelping box, she uses it at night
sleeps on floor or in garden during day

any sure signs i should be looking for?

my yorkie had pups about 3 yrs ago,but i've no experience of larger dogs sweatingbullets.gif

would love some advice/info thumbsup.gif

> North West Lurcher, Terrier, And Whippet Show
Posted by Margaret Mc Stay - 07-31-10 22:20 - 2 comments

Situated in the picturesque green hills of Donemana, Barrontop Fun Farm was the perfect place to day for a brilliant and most enjoyable Dog Show. We started off at 8.30 am today from our house in convoy with Mickey Quinn and his son Michael. As we approached Barron Top the rain poured down with a vengenance. But the Gods were definately shining on Barron Top to day, when the showing started the rain disappeared and the sun came out, with the exception of a few small showers. A big congratulations to all the worthy winners. Many, many thanks to George Megarill( Barron Top Owner ) for the care and courtesy he showed to everbody today. Thanks for the lovely stew George. Words cannot express the commitment, input and organisation put into this show by a dedicated, and hard working committe to make this show such a success . A big thank you for this to Terry Moore, Joe Boggs, Barry Holland and all their back up team. A job well done, not forgetting the judges who had a very hard job, and was done with precision and efficency. A great days fun and banter was had by all. John and myself had an exceptional day to day at this show, we came home with 6 trophys, one placque, a very large cup and a bag of meal. Our Whippet Pup Goldie won the overall Puppy Championship, and Silver our Whippet Bitch won the Whippet Bitch Class. Our Lurcher Miss Amber, won her class, smooth bitch under 23 ins (Rose Mc Coys breeding Miss Tori is her mother ) and our Lurcher Jessie won her class Rough Bitch over 23 ins. Jessie also won the Vetern Lurcher class. We went home very happy bunnies no doubt.

There was one person very sorely missed to day. Need I say the name. Bluebell ( Deidre our wonderful photographer). Deidre could not make the show today, because of other committments, but Deidre you were sure missed. You are always there, and gives your all to capture everybodys moment of glory. You were sure missed today, but hopefully we will see you tomorrow when we go in convoy to Ballinlough Castle, the way led by yourself and Patsy.

And finally, befor I go to bed, Can I offer A BIG HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUNG MICHAEL QUINN ( MICKIES SON )ON HIS DOUBLE WAMMY WIN TODAY. MICHAEL WON THE OVERALL SHOW WITH HIS BEAUTIFUL LURCHER,AND WON THE WHIPPET RACING WITH HIS SPEEDY WHIPPET. WELL DONE MICHAEL, YOU ARE A STAR AND HAS MADE YOUR DAD VERY PROUD OF YOU. As I say our photographer was not available to day, but there was a lady taking photographs with her camera of all the winners, and there was also a gentleman there from the Strabane newspaper, maybe they will do us all a favour and put some photographs on K9 and the Hunting Life.

> Stolen Lurchers - Please Look Out For Them At Shows
Posted by FeeFee - 07-31-10 20:37 - 0 comments
If anyone is at any lurcher shows or game fairs over the next few weeks could you please keep a lookout for these three lurchers and the Patterdale stolen from Bath Cats & Dogs home a couple of days ago?
